Surfing means a lot of traveling
Packing, unpacking, packing, unpacking... Every surfer knows that. You travel from spot to spot always following the waves and have to pack everything several times and unpack everything again in the next accommodation. That can be annoying!
The first packing on the other hand, before the trip starts or it goes to the surf camp is something wonderful: anticipation, excitement and the start of the vacation! As a little help you can find here our packing lists for the surf camp!

How to pack for the Surfcamp
Here you can find out what should not be missing and what you can leave at home.
If you prefer it short and sweet you can find lists for our respective surf camps here:
What clothes do I pack?
First of all, of course, you should always check the weather in advance. Depending on the selection of clothes should be adjusted. And it is also clear that you don't need a thick sweater in Costa Rica, but in Portugal and France it should not be missing even in summer! At the Atlantic Ocean it can get cold in the evening or during the day a fresh wind can come up. And then it is much colder despite the warm air temperature.
In spring and autumn in both countries should be prepared for cold days: In any case, enough warm clothes, rain and wind protection in the form of a jacket and definitely a hat and possibly a scarf. Even in summer, a cap and a thin windbreaker is an advantage. Wet from the water, you may still want to relax a bit on the beach and this is best done with a cap on your wet hair. Especially for people with sensitive ears!
Speaking of ears: If you have ever had problems with your ears (ear infection due to cold/wind, water that no longer goes out of the ears, surfers ear) get earplugs. You can find them in well-stocked sports stores or pharmacies in different variations. From wax to form yourself, plastic plugs or professional Surf In Ears. You can also buy them in local surf stores if you can't find any at home.
Back to the clothes: In summer, of course, everything airy and loose you have. Temperatures up to 34 degrees are not uncommon in the summer months in France and Portugal. So pack your summer clothes! And also in autumn and spring, as soon as the sun comes out, it still shows its enormous strength, and you can go out even in November times in a T-shirt.

Yoga - no special outfit needed
All comfortable clothes are suitable for yoga, from jogging pants to leggings or bike shorts. On top, a simple shirt or sports bustier is enough. If you do not do yoga at home and therefore have no extra yoga clothes, that's no problem. Everything that is sporty and comfortable can be used for yoga. Think also of warmer clothes such as long pants, sweater and cuddly socks, so that you do not get cold in the relaxation phases.

Surfing - a few things to watch out for
Was benötigt man eigentlich zum Surfen? Als erstes mal die üblichen Strandsachen:
- Towel or Beach towel
- Swimwear
- Headgear for protection from the sun
- sunglasses
- Trinkflasche
- Sunscreen
It's best to have your beach and surf stuff in a roomy backpack or shoulder bag that's easy to carry, since you'll still have to carry the board and wetsuit if it doesn't fit in the bag or backpack.
Your Surf Medication
What should not be missing in your first-aid kit especially for a surf camp vacation are:
- gel against muscle tension and pain
- Wound ointment
- Vaseline (vorrätig in Portugal)
- Magnesium
- gegebenenfalls Medikamente gegen Durchfall
Surfing is a really strenuous sport in which you can not get around the one or other bruises. Sometimes the wetsuit rubs or by frequent repetition of the same movement, the skin can become sore in some places. One gets so-called Rashes. To minimize these immediately or not to let arise at all helps Vaseline. These rashes or other small abrasions are best treated with ointment.
To prevent sore muscles, it makes sense to supply the body with sufficient magnesium. If the muscles are tense at some point, they are happy about a massage with pain gel or something similar.
If you have a sensitive stomach should not be missing when traveling to the south diarrhea tablets. Other food, other drinking water and the many in the salt water can bring the gastrointestinal tract already times from the balance. Our recommendation: charcoal tablets!

And what can stay at home?
Sharing is caring!
If you have forgotten something
... the world does not end either! You can buy everything on the spot. So think in advance whether it is worth your opened sunscreen from home to bring or whether you prefer to buy one directly on site! Do I have to fly my body lotion from Germany two times back and forth or do I just take as much as I need for the time of my vacation.
The one or other forgotten clothes can also be bought in the vacation country and may become a nice memory. Maybe you do without a pair of long pants and another pair of shoes and is thus cheaper on the road because you can fly only with hand luggage?
What you should not forget in any case: ID, cash card and insurance documents/card!
Have fun packing!
